Coriander is an authentic Bangladeshi and Indian Restaurant. Most of the Bangladeshi/Indian restaurants around today are considered to be simply curry houses offering an adapted menu. The Coriander Restaurant is different. The management and staff have made great efforts in making dishes that implement original traditional recipes along with a healthy approach. In the last few decades, much research has been carried out about the food we eat. Researchers invented huge amounts of important information about the food we consume and the effect it has on our daily lives. Researchers also widely expressed concern about the conditions under which food is produced, processed and stored and also about the often unnecessary colourings and additives, which are put into food.

Many varied cooking methods and ways of preservation systems have been developed through research to cook food scientifically and retain the nutritional value for the human body. The traditional ways of preserving food and ingredients and cooking method can often destroy the nutrition value. If you pay a little attention to the meals you are served in restaurants, you may not realize just how many dishes are oily, greasy and over-coloured. We all know oil is needed to cook most of our foods, but we should use less oil. As we know too much saturated fat and oil can make people overweight and can thus lead to many diseases in the human body. Possibly colourful food makes good impression when they are served but these days people are no longer prepared to accept the risks associated with these artificial additives. If we spend just a minute to ponder over where these colours come from and what the effects are on our digestive system, we may think twice. Most of us may already know the consequence of having added colour in our bodies with the rise of hyperactivity in some of our children. In this menu some of the dishes are completely new which were collected from the Mugal (Emperor) family and rural area of Bangladesh. We implemented the cooking science especially focusing on the hygienic way of cooking, preservation method and cooking techniques.

For the first time in Manchester, the management at Coriander Restaurant has introduced a truly different kind of authentic Bangladeshi and Indian food. We have taken the responsibility making your food less oily, healthier, more nutritious and more importantly, tastier.

The recipes were sourced over a length of time and we maintained the original ingredients. We implemented a healthy way of preserving, processing and cooking the dishes. In this menu, we introduced a few sections entitled “the best dishes,” “Sea Food,” “Vegetable and Vegan” and “Balanced Meal.” In the section of “the best dishes of this restaurant” you will experience a variety of our best recommended dishes. All dishes are carefully selected with a combination of new and already popular dishes. With these, some selective and well-known wines are recommended considering the texture, taste and ingredients of particular dishes in mind. These combinations of carefully chosen wines with your food may help you to enjoy the best of Bangladeshi and Indian food.

Those who want to completely escape from red and white meat, can be tempted by our delicious fresh sea food dishes. Research shows that having Omega-3 fatty acids in our diets can reduce 50% of all cardiac arrest. This is mainly obtained through fish and other seafood's. Considering this, we introduced a few new fish dishes for our customers. You will not find this variety in any other Indian restaurants.

These days, there are more and more people choosing to become vegetarian and vegan. However, not many restaurants are fully able to satisfy their appetites. Almost 89% of vegetables consumed in restaurants are canned, but we cordially try to make our dishes from fresh vegetable wherever possible. We hope you will enjoy our vegetarian and vegan selections.

Many customers however, want to enjoy meat and vegetable in equal proportions. Considering this demand, we have introduced the “Balanced Meal”. These meals are prepared equally with meat and vegetable. With this menu, we also suggest you to try a few typically Bangladeshi low fat desserts besides traditional normal ice cream.

 
     
 

Takeaway Service

 
     
 

Food can also be taken away from the restaurant. We have devised a hygienic and efficient way of carriage as most of the restaurants today use foil containers, which are not microwaveable or tamper-resistant. This could be messy as they can be flattened if not handled carefully. As we know, Indian food can be quite runny because of the many sauces used, so packing and handling food in a hygienic way in a take-away box is vital until food reaches your door. Packing food using a foil container is risky because staff needs to crimp the edges to close the lid. The sharp edge can easily cut the finger and blood can make contact with food. That’s why Coriander Restaurant uses the plastic container with an easy close lid. Attention has also been given into how customers carry their food home safely. Taking this into consideration, we introduced a carrier bag that is suitable to carry your food safely and to keep it warm.
